POLICIES OF THIRD HAVEN MEETING
The meetinghouses are historic places of worship. It is our responsibility
to protect them and their surroundings.
The following are not permitted anywhere on the meeting property: smoking,
use of alcohol, candles, lamps or fires.
· Pets are not allowed in the buildings.
· Rice or confetti may not be used.
· Parking is limited to the graveled areas of the grounds.
· If the kitchen is used, it is expected that the area will be left clean
and tidy and all items used restored.
USE OF THE COMMON ROOM BY MEMBERS
The Common Room is available for use by the following with no fee or
application.
· Meeting committees and activities
· Member’s functions such as weddings and memorial services.
· Non-profit community groups whose aims and principles are compatible with
the Religious Society of Friends provided at least one member of the
Meeting is present and participating.
Meeting committees and members are encouraged to schedule their
meetings on the master calendar posted in the Common Room.
USE OF THE COMMON ROOM BY ATTENDERS OR OUTSIDE GROUPS
When the Meeting receives a request for the use of the Common Room from an
attender or a non-profit outside group this request should be forwarded to
the Clerk of the Common Room Committee.
The Common Room Committee will then consider the application and if it is
determined by the committee that the requested use is a suitable use of the
room, that the aims and principals of the group are compatible with Friends
principals, that adequate safe guards and oversight can be put in place then
approval will be granted. Those using the Common Room may not charge an
admission fee or ask for a donation of any one present.
MEMBERSHIP
Attenders are reminded that they are welcome to seek Membership in the Third
Haven Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends. Reading Faith and
Practice is an essential step in understanding Quaker principles. Copies are
available at the meeting. Discussions with members are encouraged .
Those desiring membership should begin the process by sending a letter of
request to the Meeting clerk. This is followed by a meeting with a Clearness
Committee and submission of the request to the Meeting for Business.
WEDDINGS AT THIRD HAVEN MEETING
Application for a wedding under the care of the meeting should be addressed
to the Clerk of meeting, who forwards it to Overseers committee, who will
conduct the clearness process.
Application for a wedding not under the care of the meeting should be
addressed to the Overseers and the Common Room committees. The meeting will
appoint a member who will be a Friendly Presence to review the couple's
plans and to ensure that the service is conducted in an appropriate manner.

MEMORIAL SERVICES AND BURIALS
Application for burial or memorial service under the care of the meeting
should be addressed to the Clerk of meeting, who will forward it to the
Burial Committee (clerks of the meeting, overseers, and property and grounds
committees)
Memorial Service or Burial Fees

· Non-members with current or historic meeting connections Fee $300

Each request will be given individual consideration. All gravestones and
plaques should be of the same size and style as those which have been used
and should be approved by the Burial Committee. Meeting will appoint a
member to ensure that the service is conducted in an appropriate manner.
