Quakerism 101: Course Outline

Worship and Ministry is undertaking the development and teaching of Quakerism 101 for Third Haven Friends Meeting. There will be 6 sessions, each about 75 minutes in length, at the rise of meeting after hospitality (around 11:45-1:00). Dates and sessions are:

You can pick up the Q101 materials on September 8 or September 15 in the Common Room. In the Q101 packet, you'll find a brief outline and recommended preparation materials for each session. THFM has purchased copies of two books (The Quaker Way: A Rediscovery (2013) by Rex Ambler and Letters to a Fellow Seeker (2012) by Steve Chase) and a pamphlet (PHP #307 Beyond Consensus: Salvaging the Sense of the Meeting by Barry Morley) for participants. Each session also includes options for your preparation, to include book chapters or QuakerSpeak videos on the topic. If you prefer to use videos rather than read the books, please feel free to do so.

Please sign the participant and book list to indicate that you've picked up books. If you'd like to contribute to the cost of the books, you can make a contribution of $30 to the Meeting. This contribution is not necessary for your participation.

While we would like for each person to come to the session prepared by reading or viewing materials, we also recognize that everyone has busy lives that may interfere with their preparation. Please don't feel that you can't come to a session if you haven't done the reading. Just come as you are. We also understand if you will need to miss a session. Just come as much as you can.

We are looking forward to this first offering of Third Haven's own Quakerism 101.
