First Day School Annual Report 2025/2026:
First Day School Committee met throughout the year to determine curriculum based on materials from PYM and in keeping with Quaker Testimonies. We have had a few families visit sporadically throughout the year and welcomed children from ages 4 to 14. Highlights for the year included an extraordinary Easter Egg Hunt in the Spring attended by many members and attenders. We are also especially grateful for the invitation from Pastoral Care to include our youngest and newest members at the New Members and Attenders Luncheon held on 9th month, 27th where we met Emelia Gray Nowicki, a 16th generation Third Haven Friends member. Her Great Aunt, Susan Claggett offers a Faith & Play story on the last First Day of the month to all who attend. We hope to grow First Day School to facilitate regular programs and holiday celebrations. The First Day School rooms have been fully renovated and stocked to include a room for younger children, a room for older children and a space for new mothers and infants. Book cases in each room are fully stocked with books that have been gifted by members of Third Haven that are diverse and enjoyed by the children for their expansive topics.
Third Haven did not offer a summer camp through a third party contractor in 2026. We recognize this to be a missed opportunity for outreach to families and children who may be interested in Third Haven and we hope to visit the possibility of hosting this event again in the future.
